Sunil Gavaskar, the legendary Indian cricketer, has stunned fans and experts alike with his proposed lineup for India’s T20 World Cup game against Ireland. Gavaskar suggested that Virat Kohli should open alongside captain Rohit Sharma, with Yashasvi Jaiswal dropping down to the number three position. This recommendation comes amidst ongoing discussions about Kohli’s ideal batting position in the T20 format.
Gavaskar justified his decision by highlighting Kohli’s outstanding performance in the recent IPL season, where he amassed 741 runs in 15 matches at an impressive average of 61.75 and a strike rate exceeding 154. The former Indian captain emphasized the importance of accommodating Kohli’s current form and momentum by promoting him as an opener.
