India has witnessed significant post-poll violence in West Bengal, prompting the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to take action. Recently, the BJP has formed a four-member committee to investigate the alleged political violence in the state. The committee, led by Biplab Kumar Deb and comprising Ravi Shankar Prasad, Brij Lal, and Kavita Patidar, aims to assess the situation and address the ongoing issues.
This move comes after the BJP accused Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of staying silent in the face of violence perpetrated by members of her party. The saffron party highlighted the serious nature of the situation, especially in comparison to the relatively peaceful Lok Sabha elections held across the country. The Calcutta High Court has also intervened, extending the deployment of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) till June 21 and scheduling a hearing on June 18.
The committee’s primary objective is to investigate the acts of violence and intimidation against opposition workers and voters in West Bengal. The BJP’s strong stance reflects its commitment to addressing post-poll violence and ensuring a safe and secure environment for political activities in the state. With this initiative, the BJP aims to bring attention to the critical issue of political violence in West Bengal and work towards finding solutions to prevent such incidents in the future.
