In a shocking turn of events, the Bengaluru police have identified Pavithra Gowda, partner and co-star of Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa, as the main instigator behind the brutal murder of 33-year-old pharmacy employee Renukaswamy. According to the police’s remand note, Gowda allegedly provoked and conspired with others to carry out the crime.
The investigation pointed towards Gowda playing a crucial role in orchestrating the ‘inhuman and murderous’ assault on Renukaswamy, with the police affirming that she was the primary reason behind the crime. The remand note highlighted that Gowda’s alleged actions were intentional and coordinated, supported by scientific and technical evidence.
Following the revelation, three men walked into the Kamakshipalya police station confessing to the murder on June 10. Subsequently, Darshan, Gowda, and 15 others were apprehended by the police. While Darshan and three others remain in police custody, the remaining accused, including Gowda, have been placed in judicial custody.
The remand note also shed light on Darshan’s involvement, accusing him of making calls to arrange cash to pay off individuals involved and to potentially eradicate evidence. Raids conducted at Darshan’s residence uncovered a significant amount of cash, implicating him further in the case.
The police have expressed the need for more time to interrogate the accused and gather additional witnesses. Concerns about potential tampering with evidence and witness intimidation prompted the request to keep the accused in custody.
Despite these developments, Darshan’s lawyer expressed surprise at the accusations and stated that the defence would assess the final remand note before proceeding with a bail application.
