WhatsApp, owned by Meta, is continuously working on enhancing the user experience by testing new features for its Android beta users. The latest addition is an in-app dialer that is currently being rolled out in the ‘2.24.13.17’ beta build. This feature aims to streamline the calling experience on the platform and reduce the need to save contacts. Beta testers might notice a floating button within the ‘Calls’ tab, which, when tapped, opens a dialer with necessary buttons to make a call. Users can enter a mobile number, save it as a new contact, or associate it with an existing one. The dialer also enables easy messaging with the respective phone number if the contact is on WhatsApp. This integration can potentially make calling and saving contacts more efficient. Moreover, WhatsApp is developing AR features for call effects and filters on Android, allowing users to add interactive elements during video calls. These features may include dynamic facial filters, low-light mode, and background editing. Users can also use their avatars during calls to personalize their communication experience.
