Relief in Sight: Heatwave in Bihar to Ease as Heavy Rainfall Forecasted in West and Northeast

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has provided a ray of hope as it announced that the heatwave conditions in Bihar will soon abate, bringing much-needed relief to the state. At the same time, heavy rainfall is on the horizon for the Western and Northeastern regions of India. According to the IMD, the heatwave conditions are set to continue in certain pockets of Jammu from June 25-27, Punjab, and West Rajasthan from June 25-26, and Bihar on June 25. However, the heatwave conditions in Bihar are expected to ease soon, alleviating the struggles faced by many individuals, with cases of fainting and heatstroke being reported.

The IMD has also issued warnings for extremely heavy rainfall in isolated areas of Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, with a red alert in place for these regions. Uttarakhand is anticipated to experience heavy rainfall on June 28 and 29. Additionally, heavy rainfalls are expected along the western coast of India, particularly in Konkan and Goa where five consecutive days of heavy rains are forecasted. Furthermore, South Interior Karnataka, Coastal Karnataka, Kerala, and Mahe are set to witness heavy rains from June 25 to 27.

Moreover, the Gujarat region is bracing for heavy rainfall in isolated areas due to cyclonic activity in the Arabian Sea. As the Southwest Monsoon progresses, rainfall is expected to continue in Maharashtra, Chattisgarh, Telangana, and Tamil Nadu in the upcoming days. Light to moderate rainfall is also on the cards for Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, East Rajasthan, Odisha, and West Bengal over the next five days. Thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds are likely to accompany the rains. However, apart from Northwest and Central India, where maximum temperatures are predicted to fall by 2-4 degrees Celsius after two days, there will be no significant changes in maximum temperatures across the country for the next five days.

In essence, the IMD’s forecast brings a mix of relief and anticipation for various regions in India, with the promise of relief from the scorching heatwave conditions and the arrival of much-needed rainfall to balance out the weather patterns.
