The recent BMW hit-and-run case in Mumbai involving the son of a Shiv Sena leader has shocked the nation. Mihir Shah, the main accused, remains missing, while investigations are underway with six police teams on the lookout for him.
Hours before the fatal crash, Mihir Shah was seen at a bar in Juhu, where he reportedly racked up a liquor bill of Rs 18,730. The sequence of events leading to the tragic incident has unveiled a tale of irresponsibility and tragedy.
According to reports, Mihir Shah, after a late-night drinking session at the bar, was picked up by his driver in the BMW car. Subsequently, at Worli, he took over driving from the driver, leading to the fatal collision with a scooter carrying Kaveri Nakhawa and her husband. The devastating impact resulted in Kaveri Nakhawa losing her life in the accident.
The gravity of the situation led to the filing of charges under new criminal laws, including sections related to culpable homicide not amounting to murder, rash driving, and destruction of evidence. The Motor Vehicles Act has also been invoked in the case.
Meanwhile, Mihir Shah’s father and driver have been arrested for allegedly assisting him in fleeing the scene after the crash. The victim’s husband, Pradeep Nakhawa, expressed his anguish before the media, highlighting the devastating impact of the tragedy on his family.
Chief Minister and Shiv Sena head Eknath Shinde emphasized that the law is equal for all and no one would be spared in the case. The incident has prompted a swift response from the authorities, ensuring that justice is served in the tragic BMW hit-and-run case in Mumbai.
