The CUET UG 2024 examination conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) has been in the spotlight due to various controversies and irregularities. The NTA recently released the provisional answer key for CUET UG 2024, triggering a wave of responses from students. According to the official notice, the NTA has announced that if any grievances raised by students regarding the conduct of the exam are found to be valid, a retest will be conducted for the CUET UG candidates from July 15 to 19.
This decision comes after a series of mishaps surrounding the NEET UG 2024 result, which was released ahead of schedule, leading to demands for a retest. In contrast, the CUET UG 2024 result, which was initially set to be announced on June 30, has been delayed. The CUET UG exam, held in a hybrid mode for the first time nationwide, faced cancellations in Delhi and Kanpur due to logistical issues and wrong question paper distribution, respectively.
NTA conducted exams in a mix of pen-and-paper mode for 15 subjects and computer-based mode for 48 subjects to streamline the normalization process. Over 13.4 lakh candidates registered for the exam this year, adding to the complexities faced by the NTA amidst allegations of malpractice and irregularities.
Following the uproar over NEET UG 2024 results, NTA had to postpone multiple other exams, including UGC NET, CSIR UGC NET, and NCET. This led to the formation of a high-level committee by the Centre to probe into NTA’s operations, while the CBI launched investigations into allegations of paper leaks.
Moreover, in a parallel development, the Centre decided to postpone NEET PG and announced a revised exam date for the postgraduate medical entrance test conducted by NBEMS. Amidst the chaos, the announcement of a potential retest for CUET UG 2024 candidates adds a new layer of uncertainty to the already tumultuous situation within the realm of competitive exams conducted by the NTA.
