Mumbai and Thane are gearing up for heavy rainfall as the Regional Meteorological Department (RMC) has issued a red alert for several districts in Maharashtra. Four districts including Satara, Kolhapur, Sindhudurg, and Ratnagiri are likely to experience extremely heavy rainfall on Sunday, July 14. The RMC has warned of heavy to very heavy rainfall in a few places, with isolated areas expected to receive extremely heavy rainfall. Additionally, an orange alert has been issued for Thane, Raigad, and Pune. Mumbai and Palghar have been placed under a yellow alert for the impending weather conditions. Looking ahead to July 15, an orange alert has been issued for Palghar, Thane, Mumbai, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Pune, Kolhapur, Satara, and Parbhani. The Vidarbha region is also expected to receive moderate to heavy rainfall, with an orange alert in place for July 15. The IMD has further declared a red alert for Konkan and Goa, Coastal Karnataka, South Interior Karnataka, and the Gujarat Region. Isolated instances of extremely heavy rainfall are expected in various regions on different dates throughout the week. The weather department has highlighted areas such as Coastal Andhra Pradesh, East Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, among others, that are likely to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall in the coming days. In addition, parts of East and Northeast India have been put on alert for light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms. Flash flood risks have also been identified in specific areas, emphasizing the need for caution amidst the anticipated weather conditions.
