Radharamn Das, the Vice President and Spokesperson of Kolkata ISKCON, has reacted to the attempted assassination of Donald Trump. The shocking incident occurred during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. The former US President was hit in the ear by a gunman, identified as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks.
Radharamn Das called it a divine intervention as he shared a detailed post on Twitter, stating that 48 years ago, Donald Trump had supported the Jagannath Rathayatra festival. Today, coinciding with the ongoing Rath Yatra festivities, Trump was attacked, and Jagannath, the deity, returned the favor by saving him. In 1976, Trump had generously provided his train yard for free to assist the ISKCON devotees in constructing the raths, or chariots, for the Rath Yatra.
Drawing parallels between the attack and the Rath Yatra celebrations, Radharamn Das highlighted the significance of the festival and how it symbolized Jagannath’s intervention in protecting Trump. He also recalled the challenges faced by ISKCON devotees in organizing the first Rath Yatra in New York City and how Trump emerged as a crucial ally in making the event a success.
Furthermore, Radharamn Das shared a heartwarming anecdote about Trump’s secretary initially warning the devotees that Trump rarely agreed to such requests. However, to everyone’s surprise, Trump eventually granted permission for the use of the railway yard, which was essential for the Rath Yatra preparations.
