The Rouse Avenue court in New Delhi granted bail to Gangadhar Gunde after his counsel argued that he was wrongly arrested by the CBI in connection with an NEET paper case linked to Latur, Maharashtra. Gunde, who was arrested on June 26 from Dehradun, was released on a bail bond of Rs 25,000. The case was initially registered by the Latur Police and later taken over by the CBI.

Gunde’s lawyer contended that his client was a victim of mistaken identity and was not the person the CBI was originally looking for. The defense counsel highlighted that Gunde’s name came up during the investigation after meeting a suspect related to the case.

The CBI, however, argued that the real identity of the accused was still uncertain as another suspect, Irenna Konagalwar, was on the run. The investigation revealed connections between Gunde and other suspects through mobile communications and interactions.

The court’s decision to grant bail to Gunde marks a significant development in the ongoing NEET paper leak investigation. The case involves multiple accused individuals and the manipulation of exam scores for monetary gain.
