The recent investigation into the Renukaswamy murder case in Bengaluru has shed light on a shocking revelation involving popular Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa. It has been uncovered that Darshan allegedly borrowed a substantial amount of Rs 40 lakh from a friend to pay off other accused individuals in order to destroy crucial evidence related to the murder.
Renukaswamy, a 33-year-old ardent fan of Darshan, was tragically killed for reportedly making derogatory comments about Kannada actress Pavithra Gowda, a close friend and rumored partner of the actor. The victim’s body was discovered near a flyover in Bengaluru on June 9, following which Darshan was swiftly arrested by Karnataka Police on June 11.
The investigation further revealed that Renukaswamy was kidnapped and murdered by a gang orchestrated by Darshan. Shockingly, Darshan admitted to obtaining an additional Rs 40 lakh to pay off his accomplices to eliminate evidence, on top of the Rs 30 lakh he had previously disbursed to others.
According to the police, some of the detained accused previously confessed that Darshan had paid Rs 30 lakh for the murder, disposal of the body, and tampering with evidence. Additionally, they were alleged to have been compensated to confess to the crime and take the blame, as detailed in the investigative report.
Authorities have recovered the substantial cash amount of Rs 40 lakh and identified the lender as Mohan Raj, a close friend of the actor. The disclosed information highlights how Darshan reportedly utilized the funds to evade legal repercussions and obliterate crucial evidence in the case.
The police have included this crucial information in the remand application based on Darshan’s statement. To further the investigation, a Bengaluru court recently extended the police custody of Darshan and three other accused individuals by two days, while remanding thirteen other suspects, including Pavithra Gowda, to 14 days of judicial custody. In total, 17 individuals are implicated in the murder case, awaiting legal proceedings.
