Amidst the ongoing Amarnath Yatra, a group of pilgrims had a narrow escape from a potential tragedy as the brakes of the bus they were traveling in failed. The incident took place in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ramban district, where the driver informed the passengers about the brake failure, prompting at least 10 of them to jump out of the moving vehicle. While some passengers sustained injuries, the army and police personnel managed to stop the bus by placing stones beneath its tires, preventing a catastrophic accident along the Jammu-Srinagar national highway. The bus, carrying 40 pilgrims returning to Hoshiarpur, Punjab, was halted near Nachlana after the driver was unable to stop the vehicle. Among the injured were three women and a child, who received medical assistance from the army’s Quick Reaction Teams and ambulance on the scene. This incident underscores the challenging nature of the Amarnath Yatra pilgrimage, known for its tough trek through extreme weather conditions and high altitudes. Pilgrims embarking on this spiritual journey are advised to undergo mandatory health checkups and proper altitude acclimatization to ensure their safety and well-being. With the pilgrimage season in full swing, authorities are working diligently to support pilgrims and provide necessary assistance throughout their journey.
