At the Computex 2024 event held in Taipei, Taiwan, AMD made a significant announcement regarding its latest innovations in processors. The company introduced the next-generation Zen 5 CPU architecture and XDNA 2 GPU NPU architecture, which power the all-new AMD Ryzen 9000 series processors for gaming PCs and the third-generation Ryzen AI processors for ultrabooks. The Ryzen AI 300 series processors boast a dedicated NPU offering up to 50 TOPs of AI performance, enabling on-device AI experiences like recall (Copilot+), real-time translation, live captioning, and co-creation.

The Ryzen AI 300 series features the XDNA 2 neural processing unit (NPU) with up to 50 TOPs of performance, a 12-core central processing unit (CPU), and a new graphics processing unit (GPU) based on RDNA 3.5 architecture. The flagship AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 processor comes equipped with up to 16 compute units, setting a new standard in AI processing power. In comparison to other processors in the market, including Qualcomm X Elite, Intel Lunar Lake AI, and Apple M4, the Ryzen AI processor offers superior AI capabilities without the need for quantization.

Laptops powered by the Ryzen AI 300 series processors are expected to hit the market in July 2024, with over 100 platform partners offering a variety of AI+ PCs and Copilot+ PCs. The new Ryzen 9000 series desktop processors are also set to launch in July 2024, based on the AM5 platform with support for technologies like PCIe 5.0 and DDR5. The lineup includes the flagship Ryzen 9 9950X processor, boasting 16 cores/32 threads and a clock speed of up to 5.7 GHz, all within a thermal design power (TDP) of 170W.

In addition to the Ryzen 9000 series, AMD also unveiled two new processors within the Ryzen 5000 series – the Ryzen 9 5900XT and the Ryzen 7 5800XT. These processors will come bundled with an AMD Wraith Prism Cooler, offering users a comprehensive solution for their computing needs. With these new launches, AMD is solidifying its position as a leader in the processor market, setting new standards in AI performance and energy efficiency for both desktop and laptop applications.
