Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to visit Jammu on January 9 to review the security situation in the region amidst rising security concerns. Weeks after a terror incident in Poonch, where four soldiers lost their lives, Shah’s visit aims to assess the anti-terror operations in the area. The visit comes in the wake of a security review meeting held earlier this month, focusing on enhancing coordination among the police, the Army, and the CRPF to bolster security measures. Amit Shah’s upcoming visit follows a series of security challenges faced by the region, including the recent terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir, resulting in casualties and heightened tensions. During the review meeting chaired by Shah, discussions were held regarding better coordination among security forces, strengthening of local intelligence, and measures to combat terrorism effectively. The meeting was attended by several senior officials, including J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Army Chief General Manoj Pandey, and top intelligence officials. With security remaining a top priority, Shah emphasized the need for a zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism and the dismantling of the terror ecosystem that threatens the well-being of civilians. Additionally, the meeting also underscored the importance of completing development projects in a timely manner and achieving 100 percent beneficiary coverage under various schemes.
