One terrorist has been killed in the Uri Sector along the Line of Control (LoC) as part of an ongoing anti-infiltration operation, the Indian Army confirmed on Saturday, June 24, 2024. The operation, codenamed ‘Bajrang,’ was initiated on June 22 based on specific intelligence inputs. The identity of the eliminated infiltrator has not been disclosed, and the operation is still ongoing, with further updates expected as the situation evolves.
Chinar Corps of the Indian Army shared the news on social media, stating, ‘One terrorist has been killed in the ongoing anti-infiltration Operation that was launched on 22 Jun in the Uri Sector; Operations are continuing.’ The Uri Sector has witnessed frequent skirmishes and infiltration attempts, underscoring its significance in Indian security operations.
In a separate incident on Saturday, security forces thwarted an infiltration bid in the Uri sector of Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district after detecting suspicious movement in the Gohallan area. Upon being challenged, militants opened fire, prompting a swift response from the Army. This development follows the recent encounter where two Pakistani terrorists associated with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) were neutralized in Baramulla.
The slain terrorists in the previous encounter were identified as Usman and Umar, both of Pakistani origin and linked to LeT, as disclosed by Commander 7 Sector Rashtriya Rifles, Brigadier Deepak Mohan. The joint operation by Indian Army, JKP, and CRPF led to the successful elimination of the terrorists, marking a significant achievement for the security forces in the region.
The continuous anti-infiltration efforts by the Indian Army in the Uri Sector demonstrate the unwavering commitment to safeguarding national security and countering cross-border threats. As the operations persist, the Army remains vigilant against any attempts to disrupt peace and stability in the region.
