Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has moved the Supreme Court seeking an extension of his interim bail by seven days on health grounds in a money-laundering case linked to the excise policy scam. The top court had granted him interim bail for 21 days to campaign for the Lok Sabha polls and barred him from visiting his office or the Delhi secretariat. Kejriwal highlighted serious health concerns, including a 7 kg weight loss and elevated ketone levels, necessitating medical tests like PET-CT scans. These tests are crucial for his well-being following preliminary examinations by Max Hospital’s medical team. The ongoing probe focuses on alleged irregularities in the Delhi excise policy (2021-22), prompting the policy’s cancellation. AAP leader Manish Sisodia is already in custody in connection with the case, while Sanjay Singh was arrested and later granted bail. Kejriwal’s interim bail has sparked controversy with BJP leaders alleging special treatment, countered by the court emphasizing no exceptions were made. The Delhi CM’s plea for bail extension underscores the gravity of his health condition and the need to undertake essential medical investigations.
