BJP Announces 24 Leaders to Oversee Indian States Ahead of Elections

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has recently appointed 24 leaders as in-charges and co-in-charges for various states, including those set to go to polls like Haryana and Jharkhand, as well as the Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The BJP’s move comes amidst concerns about its performance in Rajasthan during the Lok Sabha polls, where the party lost seats despite being in power for ten years.

In Jharkhand, the party has assigned senior leader Laxmikant Bajpai to oversee the state, following their loss to the Jharkhand Mukti Morch in the last assembly polls. Additionally, former Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan and Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma have been named as election in-charges for the upcoming polls in Jharkhand.

For the crucial state of Jammu and Kashmir, where elections are due as per the Supreme Court’s directive, the BJP has retained national general secretary Tarun Chugh as the in-charge, with Union minister G Kishen Reddy overseeing the elections. The party has yet to announce a new president or working president, with JP Nadda currently serving as Union minister.

Various other states have also seen new appointments, including Manipur with Ajit Gopchade, Kerala with Prakash Javadekar, Gujarat with Vijay Rupani, Bihar with Vinod Tawde, and Himachal Pradesh with Shrikant. The party is gearing up for the upcoming polls and is making strategic appointments to ensure a strong presence in key states across the country.
