The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has unveiled its list of candidates for the upcoming bypolls in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Madhya Pradesh. The BJP’s candidate selection includes Hoshiar Singh Chambyal from Dehra in Himachal Pradesh, Ashish Sharma from Hamirpur, and Krishna Lal Thakur from Nalagarh. In Madhya Pradesh, Kamlesh Shah is the chosen candidate for the Amarwara seat, while Rajendra Singh Bhandari and Kartar Singh Bhadana will represent the party for the Badrinath and Manglaur seats in Uttarakhand respectively.
These by-elections are set to take place on July 10, with a total of 13 assembly constituencies across various states going to the polls. The Election Commission of India (ECI) has confirmed the schedule, which includes elections in Bihar, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Punjab, and Himachal Pradesh, among others. The voting process is slated to begin with the issuance of notifications on June 14, followed by nomination filing on June 21, scrutiny on June 24, and withdrawal by June 26. The actual voting will occur on July 10, with the result announcements scheduled for July 13.
The recent turn of events comes on the heels of four Congress MLAs emerging victorious in Himachal Pradesh by-elections, strengthening the party’s position in the state legislature. The results showed that the Congress secured wins in Sujanpur, Gagret, Kutlehar, and Lahaul and Spiti Assembly seats.
