The Border Security Force (BSF) conducted a security audit along the Jammu-Pakistan border amid a recent surge in terror attacks and found no breaches or suspicious movements, according to a senior BSF official. The audit included a thorough check of footage from underwater and surface surveillance cameras installed along the 192-km International Border in Jammu. Despite the heightened threat, no suspicious activity has been recorded in the past few days, ensuring the integrity of the border. This comes in the wake of multiple terror attacks in the region, resulting in casualties among security personnel and civilians.
While investigating the attacks, security forces are exploring the possibility of highly trained terrorists infiltrating from the International Border. Notably, recent attacks have occurred in areas near Kathua, underscoring the need for robust border security measures. The BSF official mentioned that the use of tunnels by terrorists is also being considered, with past instances of tunnel detection along the Jammu border. To enhance border security, the BSF has deployed underwater cameras, sensors, and live electric wires, in addition to stationed personnel along the border.
The official further elaborated on the comprehensive security measures in place, including underwater cameras and sensors in riverine areas, live electric wires, and personnel stationed strategically. These measures are designed to detect any infiltrators and sound an alarm, ensuring swift response to any breach attempts. Additionally, the International Border in Jammu is secured by the BSF, while the Line of Control in Kashmir and parts of Jammu falls under the operational control of the Army.
A recent review meeting in Kathua, attended by officials from the BSF, J&K Police, and the Punjab Police, emphasized the security scenario in the region. With the participation of top police and border security officials, the meeting aimed to strengthen border security and foster synergy among state police forces and the Border Guarding Force. Discussions revolved around enhancing border management and public safety, underscoring the collaborative efforts in place to safeguard the region from security threats.
