In the recent Lok Sabha election trends, the Congress party has called for Prime Minister Narendra Modi to resign following the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) falling below the majority mark. Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh emphasized that it would be a significant political and moral defeat for PM Modi, indicating that he should step down and head to the Himalayas. Ramesh highlighted that despite the BJP emerging as the single largest party, it did not secure a majority on its own. The General Secretary of Congress expressed that it is time for PM Modi to take moral responsibility considering the election results.

Ramesh referenced a statement made by PM Modi in 2016, where he mentioned being ready to leave like a faqir if needed. This jab was followed by Ramesh urging PM Modi to remember his own words and depart towards the Himalayas. The exit polls predicting a substantial victory for the BJP-led NDA were condemned by Ramesh as a ‘total sham.’ He pointed out that the early trends indicated a challenging situation for the BJP in states like Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Rajasthan despite making gains in other regions.

As the counting of votes progressed, reports showed the BJP-led NDA leading but falling short of the majority mark in the Lok Sabha. The Congress party, along with other opposition parties, urged PM Modi to acknowledge the outcome and take moral responsibility for the BJP’s performance. The election results hinted at an unexpected turn of events with the INDIA bloc outperforming predictions and the dynamics of the political landscape shifting. The demand for PM Modi’s resignation underscores the intensity of the electoral battle and the implications it carries for the future leadership of the nation.
