An Indigo flight bound for Mumbai was compelled to make an emergency landing after receiving a bomb threat on the night of June 18, as per reports. This Chennai-Mumbai Indigo flight, 6E 5149, was the target of a bomb threat at 10:24 PM on Tuesday. In response, the plane had to land urgently at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) in Mumbai. The aircraft, which carried 196 passengers and 7 crew members, was promptly taken to the isolation bay for a thorough checkup conducted by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel post-landing. An Indigo Airlines representative assured that all passengers were deplaned safely. The aircraft was then subjected to rigorous security inspections before it was returned to the terminal area, following complete cooperation with security agencies for the investigation. Earlier on Tuesday, several airports across the nation, including the CSMIA, had also received bomb threat emails, although subsequent investigations revealed them to be false alarms, with the Mumbai airport authorities ensuring that their services remained unaffected. The threatening emails, received by the airports, contained a uniform message warning of explosives planted at the airport that would soon detonate, attributed to the online group ‘KNR’. Similar incidents involving bomb threats have been reported in the past days, including those directed at hospitals in Mumbai, stressing the importance of immediate action and precautionary measures to ensure public safety.
