Google has introduced a new feature for Android users, ‘Listen to this page,’ that allows users to engage with web pages through audio playback. This feature, available on Google Chrome for Android version 125, offers a range of customization options for playback, including playback speed and voice selection. Users can access this feature by updating their Google Chrome application to the latest version and selecting ‘Listen to this page’ from the three-dot menu. When chosen, playback begins in a podcast-like layout, enabling users to play, pause, rewind, fast forward, or skip 10 seconds, while also providing options to select from four different voices: Ruby, River, Field, and Moss. Additionally, the feature is not exclusive to English but also supports various other languages such as Hindi, Bengali, Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Indonesian, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish. However, it is important to note that the ‘Listen to this page’ feature may not be available on all websites, depending on compatibility. Prior to this update, users could rely on the Google Assistant to read web pages aloud, but the new in-app feature of ‘Listen to this page’ offers an integrated and customizable experience within the Chrome browser. This enhancement is part of Google’s continuous efforts to improve accessibility and user convenience, providing users with a more inclusive and personalized browsing experience.
