The recent findings of a second forensic report have shed light on the tragic death of Faizan Ahmed, a student at IIT Kharagpur, revealing that he was stabbed and shot before his demise. This revelation comes almost two years after his passing in 2022, and the report suggests that Ahmed was indeed a victim of murder. The Calcutta high court ordered a second autopsy on Ahmed’s body, leading to the discovery of crucial evidence.
According to Dr. AK Gupta’s report, there were visible signs of a gunshot wound on the upper left side of Faizan’s neck, as well as a stab wound on the right. Interestingly, these specific injuries were not initially recorded by the police during their investigations in 2022, indicating possible oversight during the first autopsy. Additionally, the report highlighted the presence of human blood in Faizan’s nail cuttings and hair strands, further solidifying the case for foul play.
Faizan Ahmed’s mother took the initiative to seek justice by moving the Calcutta High Court in May 2023, urging the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to delve into her son’s untimely death. The court’s subsequent decision to order the exhumation of Faizan’s remains and a second post-mortem examination was instrumental in unravelling the truth behind his tragic demise.
Faizan Ahmed, a 23-year-old mechanical engineering student from Assam, was found dead in a room at the Lala Lajpat Rai Hostel on October 14, 2022, under suspicious circumstances.
