In response to intelligence agency warnings of potential attacks by terror outfits on security forces, several areas in Jammu and Kashmir have been placed on high alert. This cautionary measure comes on the heels of three recent terror attacks in the Jammu region within a span of just three days. Specific regions such as Sunderbani, Nowshera, Domana, Lamberi, and Akhnoor in Rajouri and Jammu districts are particularly on high alert as per the intel agencies’ directives.
The intelligence agencies have specifically highlighted the possibility of fidayeen (suicide) attacks on security force camps and installations, urging maximum vigilance in the mentioned areas. Recent incidents include a tragic attack in Doda and Kathua, resulting in the unfortunate death of a CRPF jawan along with injuries to six security personnel. The attack in Doda district targeted a joint checkpost of the 4 Rashtriya Rifles and police, with the Kashmir Tigers, a Jaish-e-Mohammed-linked terror group, claiming responsibility.
Furthermore, another distressing attack in Kathua’s Saida Sukhal village caused injuries to a civilian, leading to a subsequent search operation resulting in the elimination of two terrorists. Additionally, a recent targeted shooting on a bus transporting pilgrims in Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi district resulted in ten casualties and 33 injuries. The Pakistan-backed The Resistance Front (TRF) claimed responsibility for this tragic incident.
The incident has sparked condemnation and calls for immediate action from various political leaders and officials. Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister, expressed his concern and emphasized the need for extensive medical care for all injured individuals. Notably, BJP leader Amit Shah vowed that the perpetrators of the attack would face consequences, showcasing solidarity with the affected victims.
In the wake of this unsettling development, there is a heightened sense of urgency to bolster security measures in the region. The attacks underscore the ongoing security challenges in Jammu and Kashmir, necessitating a proactive stance against terrorism to ensure the safety and well-being of both residents and visitors in the area.
