In a remarkable feat, the state of Madhya Pradesh set a new Guinness World Record by planting over 11 lakh trees in a single day in Indore. The initiative was organised by the state government, and Chief Minister Mohan Yadav expressed his pride in achieving this milestone.
Indore, known as the cleanest city in India and the economic capital of Madhya Pradesh, now holds the title of planting the most trees by a team in 24 hours. Yadav congratulated the citizens of Indore for creating history in plantation efforts post cleanliness drives.
The plantation drive took place at the BSF Academy’s Revati Range, where more than 2,000 BSF jawans, over 100 NRIs, NCC cadets, citizens, and social organisations participated. Notably, Union Home Minister Amit Shah actively contributed to the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on World Environment Day.
Under this campaign, a total of 140 crore trees will be planted across the country, with 5.5 crore dedicated to Madhya Pradesh, referred to as the ‘lungs of Bharat’ by Shah. Indore, also recognized for its cleanliness, will witness the plantation of 51 lakh saplings during this massive campaign.
The Guinness World Record was previously held by Assam, with 9,21,730 saplings planted in 24 hours. The recent achievement in Indore highlights the nation’s commitment to environmental conservation and sustainable practices, following Modi’s vision of planting trees for the well-being of the environment and future generations.
Shah emphasized the importance of the campaign as a response to climate change and the need for community participation in such initiatives. The success of the plantation drive signifies a collective effort towards a greener and healthier future for all.
