In a recent turn of events, Janata Dal (United) leader K Tyagi claimed that the INDIA bloc offered the position of Prime Minister to Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Despite the offer, JDU remains firm in its commitment to the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and has rejected the proposal from the INDIA bloc. Tyagi clarified that although discussions are ongoing between Nitish Kumar and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders regarding ministerial positions within the NDA government, JD(U) is resolute about staying with the NDA for the next five years. While the INDIA bloc has denied extending the offer to Nitish Kumar, Congress leader KC Venugopal stated that his party is not aware of such an offer. This development comes after Bihar CM Nitish Kumar pledged his support to PM Modi during the NDA parliamentary meeting, emphasizing their collaboration and commitment to working together under Modi’s leadership for the betterment of Bihar. It is evident that despite the purported offer, the JDU is unwavering in its loyalty to the NDA, prioritizing their alliance and rejecting overtures from the INDIA bloc.
