In a recent development, the Karnataka High Court has granted interim anticipatory bail to Bhavani Revanna, the mother of Prajwal Revanna, amidst allegations of kidnapping a woman. The single judge bench of Justice Krishna S Dixit issued the interim order, directing the state and police not to arrest or detain Bhavani as long as she complies with stringent conditions. The court emphasized that this bail order should not be celebrated and instructed Bhavani to cooperate with the investigation by presenting herself before the investigating officer and not lingering in specific districts.

Furthermore, the court has ordered Bhavani not to enter the Hassan and KR Nagara districts of Mysore. The warrant of arrest issued by the Magistrate court has also been put on hold, providing relief to Bhavani. The petitioner’s husband, H D Revanna, previously arrested in the case, was released on bail. The prosecution has appealed the bail and is awaiting a decision from the court next week.

The allegations stem from the kidnapping of a woman who had worked for Revanna for several years, reportedly orchestrated by Satish Babanna on Revanna’s orders. The complainant was alerted to a viral video indicating the sexual assault on his mother, leading to the filing of the complaint with the police. The case has been registered as BHAVANI REVANNA AND State of Karnataka under Case No. CRL.P 5125/2024. With legal proceedings ongoing, Senior Advocate Sandesh J Chouta represents the petitioner, while Senior Advocate Professor Ravivarma Kumar represents the respondent.
