In a shocking revelation, Kenyan police have arrested a suspected serial killer, Collins Jumaisi Khalusha, who has confessed to the gruesome murder of 42 women, including his wife. The arrest came following the discovery of several bodies at a quarry in Nairobi, with police describing Khalusha as a ‘psychopathic serial killer with no respect for human life.’ ‘It is crystallising that we are dealing with a serial killer, a psychopathic serial killer who has no respect for human life,’ said Amin Mohamed, the head of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations. The murders, which stretch back to 2022, saw Khalusha confessing to luring and killing the women, dumping their remains at the quarry. The most recent murder was on July 11, 2024. The arrest of Khalusha has sparked outrage and raised questions about how such killings could go unnoticed for two years in the community. The bodies found were severely dismembered and in different states of decomposition, leading to shock and disbelief among local residents. Following Khalusha’s arrest, police found crucial evidence in his rented house, including mobile phones, a machete, industrial rubber gloves, and nylon sacks similar to those used to dispose of the victims. The case has reignited calls for increased measures to combat gender-based violence in the country, with female leaders advocating for enhanced protections for Kenyan women. The gruesome discovery of the bodies at the quarry has also prompted scrutiny of police involvement and response in the community. The investigation into Khalusha’s horrifying crimes continues, with autopsies being conducted on the recovered bodies and efforts to identify the victims. The shocking reality of a serial killer operating in the heart of Nairobi has left a lasting impact on the community, raising important questions about the safety and security of individuals in the region.
