Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) senior leader Khawaja Asif has criticized the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for seeking relief from someone else after former army chief General (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa. Addressing the National Assembly, the defence minister mentioned Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) leader Aun Chaudhry, who claimed to have hidden PTI founder Imran Khan in a car’s trunk to take him to General (retd) Amjad Awan’s house. According to Chaudhry, at Awan’s residence, Khan made desperate requests for relief, trying to hold someone else’s feet after Bajwa. Asif criticized PTI for allegedly ‘licking shoes’ and seeking help from various sources. The defence minister took a strong stance against PTI Secretary-General Omar Ayub Khan, who criticized the government’s budget as against the nation’s interests. Asif mentioned that PML-N would welcome PTI if it apologized for the events of May 9, referring to violent protests following Imran Khan’s arrest last year. He also condemned PTI’s letter to the IMF linking funding to election audit, accusing PTI of pushing the country towards default after losing power.
