The Lok Sabha Elections 2024 have reached their final phase, with the seventh and last round of polling scheduled for Saturday, June 1. This phase marks the conclusion of the largest democratic exercise in India, where 543 representatives for the 18th Lok Sabha will be elected. The campaigning for Phase 7 concluded two days before the voting day, with citizens across 57 Lok Sabha constituencies in eight states and union territories gearing up to cast their votes.
Voting in this phase is set to take place in all 13 seats of Punjab and four of Himachal Pradesh, along with 13 constituencies in Uttar Pradesh, nine in West Bengal, eight in Bihar, six in Odisha, and three seats in Jharkhand, including Chandigarh. This phase comes after voting in 486 seats across 28 states and Union territories in the preceding six phases, with voter turnout ranging from 62.2% to 69.16% in each phase.
The campaigning saw intense political debates, with BJP leaders, spearheaded by PM Narendra Modi, accusing the Congress and the INDIA alliance of corruption, anti-Hindu sentiments, and engaging in politics of loot, appeasement, and dynasty. Opposition parties, on the other hand, have criticized the BJP for being anti-farmer and anti-youth, claiming they will alter and abolish the Constitution if victorious.
Notably, the counting of votes for all phases is scheduled for June 4, where the fate of various political leaders and parties will be determined. With high tensions and contrasting ideologies prevalent in the campaign trail, the final phase of Lok Sabha Elections 2024 is poised to shape the political landscape of India for the foreseeable future.
