Man Attempts to Attack Students Outside Brooklyn Jewish School in Antisemitic Incident

A shocking incident occurred outside a Brooklyn Jewish school on Wednesday, May 29, when a maniac attempted to mow down Orthodox students and a rabbi while yelling “I’m gonna kill all the Jews,” sources revealed. The culprit, identified as 58-year-old Asghar Ali, a Pakistani immigrant livery cab driver with a history of mental illness, was caught on video footage supplied by the Flatbush Shomrim Safety Patrol. The video shows the driver revving his engine, mounting the curb, and swerving toward Orthodox Jews outside a Yeshiva in Canarsie around 11:25 a.m. The NYPD’s Hate Crimes Task Force is currently investigating the case, with detectives questioning the driver Wednesday night.

The attacker faces a multitude of charges, including attempted murder, attempted assault, and hate crimes charges. However, authorities do not believe the attack is terror-related, and there is no evidence linking the driver to radical groups online. The man was driving a white Crown Victoria when he targeted students and a rabbi outside the Mesivta Nachlas Yakov School by veering towards them, shouting threats. Fortunately, no one was injured in the attack, as the victims managed to run into the building before being hit.

Rabbi Twersky, a staff member at the Yeshiva, recounted that the chaos began when the driver attempted to strike one of the boys while he was on the phone at a street corner. The driver then proceeded to target a group of students standing outside the school, prompting them to seek shelter inside. Thanks to the quick actions of the Shomrim Safety Patrol, the perpetrator was swiftly apprehended after attempting to flee the scene. The authorities were able to identify and capture the individual, who was later transferred to Coney Island Hospital for evaluation.

Asghar Ali, originally from Pakistan, has been living in the US for more than two decades and has a history of arrests, including one for false personation in 1998. Despite claiming to work as a cab driver, he does not possess a valid TLC license. Law enforcement sources described him as an “emotionally disturbed” person, underscoring the need for public safety measures in light of rising antisemitism. With the community on edge following the incident, the swift apprehension of the suspect has brought some relief to residents, allowing them to feel more secure in the wake of this disturbing attack.
