Microsoft has recently released a new Windows 11 Insider Preview build that introduces several exciting features to the pre-installed Phone Link app. This latest update (KB5037858) includes a new ‘My Phone’ button in the app’s nearby share section, making it easier to send files from a PC to an Android phone. Previously, users had to tap the ‘Share using’ button to access the file-sharing feature, but now, with the addition of the ‘My Phone’ button, the process is simplified. Moreover, Microsoft has introduced a new feature that allows users to extract and copy text from images on their Android phones to their Windows PCs.

When viewing images stored on an Android phone within the Phone Link app, users will now notice a ‘Text’ icon. By clicking on this icon, the app will attempt to detect text within the image, enabling users to select and copy the desired text. This functionality adds a new level of convenience and efficiency, allowing users to easily transfer text from images on their phones to their computers.

The Phone Link app, which provides users with features like syncing call logs, messages, notifications, and images from their phones to their PCs, has been steadily improving over time. With the release of the new features in Phone Link v1.24051.91.0, Microsoft is striving to enhance the overall user experience and streamline the integration between Android devices and Windows PCs. This functionality is currently available in the Release Preview Insider build, indicating that it will soon be rolled out to all users, further enhancing the utility and versatility of the Phone Link app.

Additionally, the Phone Link app allows users to make calls, cast their phone screens onto their PCs, and even utilize their Android phones as webcams for their PCs, showcasing the app’s versatility and expanding its functionality. Microsoft’s commitment to continuously improving the Phone Link app highlights their dedication to providing seamless connectivity and productivity tools for users across different devices. As the app continues to evolve, users can expect even more features to be integrated, further solidifying its position as an essential tool for maintaining connectivity and productivity across platforms.
