In the latest ICC Men’s T20I Player Rankings, there have been significant changes with Afghanistan’s Mohammad Nabi claiming the top spot as the no. 1 all-rounder. Dynamic India batter Suryakumar Yadav has managed to retain his leadership position among the batters. The rankings list, updated recently by the ICC, showcases the outstanding performances of players from various nations. Afghanistan, in particular, has been on an unbeaten run during the ongoing T20 World Cup. Notably, they secured victories against Uganda and New Zealand in the Group C clashes. Mohammad Nabi, a key player for Afghanistan, has excelled with both bat and ball, leading to his deserving elevation to the top position. The 39-year-old all-rounder reached the summit after his impressive display, including picking up two crucial wickets against New Zealand in Guyana. With this feat, Nabi rose two places to claim the prestigious spot. On the other hand, Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis made a significant jump, advancing three places to secure second place in the rankings. Former no. 1, Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan, saw a decline in his position, dropping to fifth place. Suryakumar Yadav, the flamboyant left-hander from India, extended his reign as the top batter in the T20I rankings. Another notable mention is Afghanistan’s opening batter, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, who achieved his career-best ranking by ascending to the 12th spot. Gurbaz has been in exceptional form during the T20 World Cup, emerging as the leading run-scorer with 156 runs in two innings. Moving on to the bowling department, England’s Adil Rashid currently holds the top position in the T20I bowlers’ rankings, followed closely by Sri Lanka captain Wanindu Hasaranga. The Afghan duo of Rashid Khan and Fazalhaq Farooqi occupy the third and fourth spots, respectively, showcasing their bowling prowess. South African pacer Anrich Nortje shares the fourth spot with Farooqi, highlighting his impressive performances in the tournament. Rashid Khan, the captain of Afghanistan, has been a standout performer with six wickets in two matches, underscoring his value to the team. Farooqi, on the other hand, leads the wicket-taking charts in the tournament, boasting nine scalps in two games. Nortje, the fiery seamer from South Africa, has also been in fine form, securing eight wickets to his name in a similar number of games. The rankings update also saw Bangladesh’s trio of Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed, and Rishad Hossain making significant strides in the rankings, claiming the 13th, 19th, and 30th positions, respectively. It is evident that the recent reshuffling in the rankings has brought to light the exceptional performances by players across different teams, further intensifying the competition in the T20I arena.
