The stage is set for a historic day in Odisha politics as Mohan Charan Majhi is all set to be sworn in as the new Chief Minister of the state. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has ended the 24-year rule of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) led by Naveen Patnaik, marking a significant shift in power dynamics. Majhi, a four-time MLA and prominent tribal leader, is taking over after senior state leaders Dharmendra Pradhan and Jual Oram joined the Union government.
Majhi’s political journey traces back to his initial days as a Sarpanch in 1997-2000, eventually being elected to the state assembly in 2000 and re-elected in 2004. With a strong political background, he is now all set to lead Odisha into a new era of governance and development.
The ceremony, scheduled for 5:00 pm today, will witness the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is expected to arrive in Bhubaneswar at 2:30 pm. Alongside Majhi, the party has also selected KV Singh Deo and Pravati Parida as Deputy Chief Ministers, showcasing a diverse leadership approach.
In addition to the VVIP attendees, about 30,000 people are expected to grace the oath-taking ceremony at Janata Maidan. The event will symbolize not just a change in leadership but also a promise of progress and prosperity for the people of Odisha.
With the BJP’s significant victory in Odisha, the state is gearing up for a new chapter under the leadership of Mohan Charan Majhi. As the new Chief Minister, Majhi is expected to bring fresh perspectives and initiatives to address the state’s issues and propel it towards growth and development.
