Pakistan’s wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan has made headlines in the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup by achieving a significant milestone. During the match against Canada on June 11, 2024, at the Nassau County International Stadium, Rizwan surpassed Indian captain Rohit Sharma’s record for the most 50+ scores as an opener in T20 International cricket. Rizwan’s exceptional performance led Pakistan to a convincing seven-wicket victory.

With his match-winning knock of 53 runs off 53 deliveries, including two fours and a six, Rizwan now has a total of 30 fifty-plus scores in just 71 innings. This accomplishment not only showcases his exceptional form but also highlights his consistency in the shortest format of the game, equaling Rohit Sharma’s record in a much shorter span of matches.

Pakistan’s victory over Canada came as a much-needed relief after suffering back-to-back losses against USA and India. Opting to bowl first, the Men in Green successfully restricted Canada to 106 runs, taking seven wickets in the first innings. In response, Pakistan chased down the target with ease, only losing three wickets in the process.

Rizwan’s achievement solidifies his position as one of the key players for Pakistan in the T20 World Cup 2024. With the team’s final group match scheduled against Ireland on June 16 at Lauderhill, all eyes will be on Rizwan and his teammates as they aim to secure their spot in the Super 8 stage of the tournament.

Overall, Rizwan’s stellar performance in the T20 World Cup has not only kept Pakistan’s hopes alive in the competition but has also garnered attention for his remarkable consistency and ability to deliver when it matters the most.
