PM Narendra Modi is all set to travel to Russia on July 8 for bilateral talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin under the annual summit mechanism. This visit comes after active preparations were confirmed by a Kremlin official, Yuri Ushakov, emphasizing that the visit will indeed take place. This visit marks PM Modi’s first trip to Russia since the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022. President Putin, who was sworn-in for his fifth consecutive term in May, will engage in discussions with PM Modi, who recently took oath for his third consecutive term in June. Despite India’s historic alliance with Russia, explicit condemnation of the invasion of Ukraine has been avoided.
