Samsung is gearing up to unveil its latest foldable phones, the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and the Galaxy Z Fold 6, at the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event on July 10, 2024. These devices are expected to feature improved designs and specifications compared to their predecessors. The dummy units of both phones have recently surfaced, giving us a glimpse into their aesthetic.
The Galaxy Z Fold 6 showcases a boxier design reminiscent of the Galaxy S24 Ultra, with sharp corners on both the inner and outer screens. It is slightly shorter and wider than the Galaxy Z Fold 5, featuring a triple-camera setup on the rear and a side-mounted fingerprint reader. On the other hand, the Galaxy Z Flip 6 retains its rounded corners, dual-camera setup, large cover screen, and side-mounted fingerprint reader.
Both devices are rumored to have less visible screen creases compared to their predecessors. Additionally, they are expected to be thinner and lighter. The Galaxy Z Flip 6 is speculated to sport a 50MP primary rear camera and a 12MP ultrawide camera, while the Galaxy Z Fold 6 may come with a 50MP primary camera, a 12MP ultrawide camera, and a 10MP telephoto camera. Both phones are likely to feature a 10MP selfie camera.
In terms of hardware, the Galaxy Z Flip 6 is said to be powered by a 4,000mAh battery, while the Galaxy Z Fold 6 could pack a 4,400mAh battery. Both devices are anticipated to support GPS, 5G, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, and USB Type-C connectivity. Moreover, they may offer 25W fast charging, 15W wireless charging, and 4.5W reverse wireless charging.
Samsung is rumored to commit to providing seven years of Android OS and security updates for the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and the Galaxy Z Fold 6. Additionally, both devices are likely to come with an IPX8 rating for water resistance.
