At least six Indians are among the 65 people who are believed to be missing in Nepal following a tragic incident where two buses were pushed into a river due to a landslide caused by heavy rainfall. The buses, carrying a total of 65 passengers, disappeared in the Trishuli River at Simaltal area along the Narayanghat-Mugling road in the Chitwan district, which is approximately 100 kilometers from Kathmandu. The unfortunate accident occurred around 3:30 am, as confirmed by an official.

The passengers were split between the two buses; 24 individuals were on board the Kathmandu-bound Angel bus, while 41 other passengers were traveling on Ganpati Deluxe, en route to Gaur from the capital of Nepal. Among the missing nationals are Santosh Thakur, Surendra Sah, Adit Miyaan, Sunil, Shahnawaj Alam, and Ansari. However, the total number of missing individuals remains uncertain as there may have been additional passengers picked up along the way, according to Chitwan district official Khimananda Bhusal.

Search and rescue teams are working diligently at the site of the accident to locate any survivors. Unfortunately, the swollen river has made it challenging to find other individuals involved in the incident. Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has expressed his condolences over the tragic accident and has instructed immediate search and rescue operations to be conducted.
