In a shocking incident in Maharashtra’s Pimpri-Chinchwad, a woman was grievously injured after being hit by a speeding car driven by the son of a police official. The incident occurred on Wednesday, June 12, in the Bhosari area, where the woman was crossing the road. A CCTV footage of the incident captured the horrifying moment when the car struck the woman, causing her to be flung in the air before falling some distance away.
The injured woman was immediately taken to a private hospital for medical treatment. Following a complaint filed by the woman’s brother, the police arrested the car’s driver, identified as Vinay Vilas Naykere. Naykere was charged under sections 279 and 337 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) relating to rash and negligent driving, along with other provisions of the Motor Vehicle Act (MVA). It was later revealed that Naykere is the son of a police official.
This incident comes in the wake of a similar accident in Pune, where a woman was injured by a speeding car. The swift action taken by the police in apprehending the accused driver highlights the importance of road safety and the need for responsible driving practices. The community is urged to remain vigilant while on the roads to prevent such tragic incidents from occurring in the future.
