A tragic incident unfolded in Mumbai’s Worli early this morning when a speeding BMW struck a couple on a two-wheeler, leading to the death of a woman. The couple, identified as Kaveri Nakva and her husband Pradik Nakva, hailing from the Koliwada area of Worli, had ventured out to Sassoon Dock at 5:30 am to buy fish. As they were heading back home with their catch, the speeding BMW rear-ended their two-wheeler with great force, causing the bike to overturn. Both the husband and wife were thrown onto the bonnet of the car due to the impact. In a bid to save himself, the husband managed to jump off the bonnet; however, the wife, Kaveri, was dragged for 100 meters by the fleeing car. Tragically, Kaveri Nakva was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.

Following the mishap, the driver of the BMW abandoned the crime scene, leaving behind the injured woman. Presently, Kaveri’s husband is receiving medical treatment and an investigation has been initiated into the hit-and-run case by the authorities. Notably, police sources have disclosed that the BMW was being driven by 24-year-old Mihir Shah, the son of Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s faction of Shiv Sena, Rajesh Shah. While Rajesh Shah has been apprehended by the police, Mihir remains on the run, avoiding law enforcement.

This unfortunate incident has cast a shadow over the Worli neighborhood in Mumbai, prompting both mourning and concern among the community members. The tragic loss of a life due to reckless driving has once again brought attention to road safety measures and the consequences of irresponsible behavior behind the wheel.
