Suzlon Energy, a prominent player in India’s renewable energy sector, made headlines today as it secured a significant order from AMPIN Energy Transition, further solidifying its position in the market. The order, valued at 103.95 MW, involves the supply of 33 wind turbines with a rated capacity of 3.15 MW each. These turbines, specifically the S144-140 model from the 3 MW product series, are set to be deployed in the Fatehgarh district of Rajasthan. This project is expected to provide electricity to approximately 85,000 households and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by an estimated 3.38 lakh tonnes per year.
Apart from supplying the wind turbines, Suzlon will also oversee the project execution, including erection, commissioning, and post-commissioning operations and maintenance services. CEO of Suzlon Group’s India business, Vivek Srivastava, expressed optimism about the industry’s future, highlighting the increasing focus on hybrid renewable energy projects as a crucial aspect of effective energy transition.
This recent order adds to Suzlon’s string of successes in the past month, with significant wins including projects from Juniper Green Energy, the Aditya Birla Group, and Oyster Green Hybrid. The company’s market performance has also been noteworthy, with shares trading 2.7% higher at ₹48.67, marking a nearly 30% increase in 2024.
In the midst of these achievements, Suzlon faced a corporate governance challenge as one of its independent directors resigned, citing concerns in this area. Despite this, the company remains committed to regulatory norms and proactive disclosures, emphasizing its dedication to enhanced operational performance. The positive market reaction to Suzlon’s latest order from AMPIN Energy Transition indicates investor confidence in the company’s capabilities and growth trajectory.
