Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy recently held a crucial meeting with Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi to discuss pressing issues related to the state. The primary focus of the discussion was on the allocation of defence lands to the state government for the development of public infrastructure. He urged the Centre to expedite the process and ensure that necessary approvals are granted for the construction of the school. The discussion also touched upon the merger of the Secunderabad Cantonment Board with the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation to improve civic amenities in the region.
During the meeting, Chief Minister Reddy sought the Centre’s support in sanctioning 2,500 acres of defence lands to the state government to further infrastructure development projects. He specifically requested the allocation of lands for highway expansion works, flyovers, and other basic amenities. The Chief Minister also raised concerns about the delay in the construction of a Sainik School near Warangal and urged the Centre to address the issue promptly.
In a separate interaction with Union Housing and Urban Development Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, Chief Minister Reddy sought approval for the construction of 2.70 lakh houses under the Beneficiary Led Construction (BLC) model in Telangana. He highlighted the state government’s initiative to provide housing for the shelter-less poor and requested additional funds under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) to support the ambitious housing project.
