In Gondal, a city in the Saurashtra region of Gujarat, tensions have been rising between the Dalit and Rajput communities. The unrest began after NSUI leader Sanjay Solanki was allegedly assaulted by Ganesh Gondal, the son of BJP MLA Geetaba Jadeja. Dalits in the area organized a rally on June 12 demanding justice for Solanki, who was reportedly kidnapped and beaten by Ganesh Gondal. As a prominent figure in the region, Ganesh’s parents, Geetaba and Jayrajsinh Jadeja, hold significant influence. Ganesh Gondal has been taken into custody and is currently in judicial custody. The incident stemmed from a confrontation on June 6, when Solanki advised Ganesh Jadeja to drive carefully after a near collision. The following day, Solanki was attacked and forcibly taken in a car, where he was allegedly assaulted. In response, a bike rally advocating for Solanki’s justice was organized by a Dalit community group. The situation escalated as Dalits took to the streets while supporters of the Jadeja family led to the closure of villages and the marketing yard in Gondal in support of Ganesh’s family. The unrest highlights the deep-seated tensions between the two communities, with allegations of assault and injustice adding fuel to the fire. The fallout from this incident may have far-reaching implications for the social fabric and political landscape of the region.
