Trinamool Congress, a key player in the INDIA bloc, is expressing dissatisfaction with the bloc’s approach of waiting for the ‘appropriate time’ to take action. The party’s national general secretary, Abhishek Banerjee, recently met with opposition leaders to gather support for their push towards immediate action. During a recent meeting with Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav in Delhi, Banerjee emphasized the urgency of the current political landscape, stating that the Opposition cannot afford to remain passive for the next five years. Additionally, he engaged with Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray in Mumbai to garner further backing for their cause.

The INDIA bloc, comprising various opposition parties, recently decided on a ‘wait and watch’ strategy during their meeting. However, Banerjee proposed including a statement in the resolution to keep doors open for potential alliances with other parties like Telugu Desam Party and Janata Dal (United), which was met with differing opinions. Despite this, the TMC leader continues to engage with other bloc members in one-on-one meetings to strengthen their stance.

Furthermore, Banerjee hinted at potential defections from BJP, claiming that three MPs are in talks with his party. Meanwhile, the Congress party has acquired one independent MP, reaching a total of 100 seats. The TMC’s assertive approach towards seeking active collaboration with allies signals a shift towards proactive political maneuvers in the current scenario. With the national elections looming, the political landscape in India is poised for significant developments as parties align and strategize for the road ahead.
