At WWDC 2024, Apple kicked off with a keynote revealing iOS 18, macOS Sequoia, and more, all powered by the upcoming Apple Intelligence technology. The major announcements included the new features and changes in iOS 18, such as improved customization for the Home Screen and Control Center, a redesigned Photos app, and the ability to lock apps behind Face ID or Touch ID.
The highlight of iOS 18 is the introduction of Apple Intelligence, a suite of generative AI features that will enhance the user experience on the iPhone, iPad, and Mac. macOS Sequoia, the latest major update for Mac operating systems, introduces several new features that integrate Apple Intelligence. Apart from AI-driven updates, the release includes tiled window management, iPhone Mirroring, and enhancements to apps like Notes, Calculator, Safari, and Siri. The macOS update takes inspiration from California’s Sequoia National Park, featuring a national park database in Apple Maps.
With the introduction of Apple Intelligence, users can expect system-wide improvements in functionality across various Apple platforms, including the ability to summarize text, generate images, and access detailed product information. Siri’s interaction with Apple Intelligence promises a more natural and conversational experience, alongside the integration of ChatGPT for better responses to user queries.
Furthermore, the revamped Notes app now offers transcription assistance, audio recording capabilities, and a calculation feature powered by Apple Intelligence. The redesigned Calculator app includes a history of previous calculations, while Safari incorporates AI-driven discovery features like Highlights and Reader view.
