In a recent strategic move to strengthen its network capabilities, Vodafone Idea has partnered with Samsung for the deployment of 4G and 5G virtual Radio Access Network (vRAN) solutions. This collaboration aims to enhance the network capabilities of Vodafone Idea, marking a significant step towards technological transformation. Over the past 12-18 months, Vodafone Idea has conducted successful network trials with Samsung in Chennai, India. Following positive results that matched the performance of existing suppliers, Vodafone Idea has expanded Samsung deployments to the Karnataka and Bihar circles.

This partnership has enabled Vodafone Idea to meet its 5G Minimum Rollout Obligation (MRO) in Chennai, Karnataka, and Bihar using NSA vRAN architecture. Jagbir Singh, Chief Technical Officer of Vodafone Idea, expressed his enthusiasm about the vRAN deployment, highlighting the innovation and joint technological initiatives with Samsung. He emphasized the role of hybrid architecture in delivering network-enhanced capabilities that will redefine radio architecture.

By leveraging Samsung’s vRAN solution, Vodafone Idea expects to bring flexibility, scalability, and resource efficiency to its network management. The collaboration with Samsung complements the telecom company’s discussions with other industry giants like Ericsson, Nokia, and Mavenir for its 4G network expansion and 5G rollout in India.

The positive development reflected in the partnership with Samsung has also impacted Vodafone Idea’s share price positively. On Wednesday, the company’s share price witnessed a 3.37% increase, trading at ₹17.77. This strategic collaboration signifies Vodafone Idea’s commitment to enhancing its network infrastructure and delivering superior services to its customers.
