In a recent joint press conference, the leaders of Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) expressed gratitude towards the people of Maharashtra for their unwavering support in the Lok Sabha elections. The MVA coalition is comprised of opposition parties in Maharashtra, including the NCP (SP) led by Sharad Pawar, Shiv Sena (UBT) led by Uddhav Thackeray, and Congress. Uddhav Thackeray, the chief of Shiv Sena (UBT), hinted at the continuity of the MVA alliance in the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly polls following the exceptional performance in the recent Lok Sabha polls. During the press conference held in Mumbai, Thackeray emphasized that the victory in the Lok Sabha elections marked just the beginning for the opposition alliance, expressing confidence in securing success in the forthcoming Maharashtra assembly polls. He addressed a comment made by the state’s Deputy Chief Minister comparing the MVA alliance members to three legs of a rickshaw, stating that the fight was to preserve the Constitution and democracy. NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar also took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, highlighting that MVA candidates emerged victorious in areas where the Prime Minister conducted roadshows and rallies. Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan hinted at the possibility of the MVA continuing in the Maharashtra Assembly elections, expressing hope in continued support from the people of Maharashtra. The MVA alliance showcased an impressive performance in the Lok Sabha polls, securing 31 out of 48 seats in Maharashtra, with Congress leading the tally with 13 seats, followed by Shiv Sena with nine, and NCP (SP) with eight seats.
