With the latest rumors swirling around the upcoming iPhone 16 Pro models, it seems that Apple is gearing up to revolutionize charging speeds for its flagship devices. The iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max are rumored to offer significantly faster charging speeds than their predecessors. According to reports from ITHome, the iPhone 16 Pro will support 20W charging with MagSafe and 40W wired fast charging.
Currently, the iPhone 15 models support wired fast charging speeds of up to 27 watts when using a compatible power adapter, allowing users to charge their devices up to 50 percent in around 30 minutes. Meanwhile, the MagSafe charging speeds max out at 15W for the iPhone 15 lineup.
The upcoming iPhone 16 Pro models are expected to bring a notable increase in charging speeds, especially in wired fast charging. The increased charging speeds are said to be balanced by the models having larger batteries compared to the iPhone 15 series. Additionally, renowned Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has reported that the iPhone 16 battery will feature greater energy density and could be easier to replace, thanks to a new metal casing on the battery.
If the rumors hold true, it could mean a game-changing improvement in charging speeds for iPhone users. The alleged increase to 40W of charging speed for wired charging and 20W for wireless charging, particularly when using a MagSafe charger, would significantly reduce charging times for users with higher-power USB-C adapters.
