Delhi Water Crisis: Atishi’s Indefinite Hunger Strike Demands 100 Million Gallons of Water from Haryana

In response to the severe water crisis in Delhi, AAP Minister Atishi has embarked on an indefinite hunger strike in Bhogal, South Delhi, demanding 100 million gallons of water per day from Haryana. The strike aims to exert pressure on Haryana to fulfill Delhi’s water needs. Atishi is joined by prominent party members like Sunita Kejriwal and Sanjay Singh in this crucial initiative.

Prior to commencing the hunger strike, Atishi, along with other AAP leaders, paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat. This symbolic gesture signifies the spirit of Satyagraha and nonviolent resistance that Atishi aims to embody in her fight for water rights.

Expressing her determination on social media, Atishi highlighted the continuous efforts made to address the water shortage issue and the reluctance of the Haryana government to release the stipulated share of water to Delhi. She emphasized the importance of upholding Gandhian principles in the face of injustice and the need for a peaceful protest to address the crisis.

Additionally, Atishi submitted a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging his intervention in resolving the water scarcity problem in Delhi. She emphasized the plight of 28 lakh residents in Delhi who are affected by the diminished water supply and called for immediate action to ensure access to water for all.

In a parallel development, the Delhi High Court has issued a stay on Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s bail in a money laundering case following a recent decision by a lower court. The legal proceedings surrounding Kejriwal’s case have garnered attention amidst the unfolding water crisis and Atishi’s hunger strike.

As the water shortage in Delhi intensifies amid rising temperatures, Atishi’s bold move to fast indefinitely underscores the urgency of the situation and the steadfast commitment of AAP in addressing the water crisis. The ‘Water Satyagraha’ initiated by Atishi signifies a collective effort to secure the fundamental right to water for the residents of the national capital.
